Temporary Liquidator of the Third National Supreme Criminal Chamber superior court of justice rescheduled for next Thursday, October 6, from 2:30 p.m. the continuation of the oral trial against municipal candidate Daniel Urresti. This trial, which follows the former interior minister, concerns the murder case of journalist Hugo Bustios Saavedra.
The reason the hearing didn’t take place on Tuesday is because Urresty’s attorney didn’t show up due to sick leave. Therefore, the judge leading the trial made such a decision. The State Ministry also adopted a change in schedule.
The prosecutor’s office states in its thesis that Daniel Urresti he was an intermediary in the murder of Hugo Bustios, and therefore 25 years in prison are being asked against him; while for the protection of the former minister, the crime is attributed Glowing Path.
The former congressman also testified at one of the hearings that he did not know that Hugo Bustios was engaged in journalistic activities in 1988, when he was killed in Wanta and when he was an intelligence officer there at a counter-sabotage base.
Urresty called the question of his judicial situation an “ambush”
Daniel Urrestyinterrogated journalist Josefina Townsend, moderator of the municipal debate, for asking about her legal position in the case of Hugo Bustios and her deputy mayoral candidate, José Luna Morales, despite the fact that, in her opinion, this was not subject to previously established criteria.
The Podemos Peru candidate called it “an ambush disguised as a question” and recalled that the day before the debate, the organizers of this public event assured that the moderators would ask clarifying questions; that is, cross-examination “on the topic in question”.
“The question was about the existing green areas. An additional question was supposed to be about the same, however it was an ambush. It is clear that they are trying to create a new (Jorge) Munoz, and this is not fair. (…) JNE says they can’t control the moderators, but the moderators have clearly defined the format,” the former minister asked.
Video published by the program Panorama showed Daniel Urresty direct reproach to the moderator Josephine Townsend at the end of the block of citizens’ questions. The public video shows that the event took place during the commercial break of the debate and only the candidate We can Peru in front of the drivers.
