Interior Minister Willy Huerta assured this Wednesday that the President Peter’s castle never gave an order to change the members of the PPP special group, which works with the prosecutor’s office in investigating corruption in the country. In this sense, the head of the ministry indicated that this group enjoys the support of its sector.
Huerta appeared in Congress to respond to a 12-question statement formulated by parliamentarians so that he could explain the changes made to the national police at the end of August and the president’s complaint. Peter’s castle against the colonel Harvey Colchado for raiding the Government Palace.
“The President of the Republic did not propose or request any changes in the composition of the special group, however, I must clarify that in the protocol of the study and the conclusion issued by General Staff of the PPP, July 26 recommended DIVIAC who takes on coordinating tasks in the tasks of assisting acts of diligence to be carried out by a dedicated team Public service. It should be clarified that in addition to the recommendations submitted, no changes were made to the composition of the special group,” the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade said.
Willy Huerta assured before Congress that the changes in the PNP’s high command were due to the need to “strengthen the fight against civilian insecurity” and ruled out any connection to the investigation against President Pedro Castillo. He also ruled out that the President has any connection with Raul Alfaro Alvarado (Commander General), Segundo Mejia Montenegro (Inspector General) and Vicente Alvarez Moreno (Chief of the General Staff).
On the other hand, the minister indicated that he would not give an opinion on the investigations being carried out against Colonel Harvey Colchado, noting that if he did, he could be subject to interference in functions due to his high position.
Minister’s Rationale
Huerta testified last Friday, September 2, before the Congressional Defense Commission to point out that promotion in the police and military is the constitutional power of President Pedro Castillo.
Huerta also explained that the removal of Luis Vera Llerena, who was replaced by Raúl Alfaro, was because during his three months as general of the PPP, “he did not fulfill” the tasks of ensuring the safety of citizens, including reducing the crime rate in the country.
