Board of Directors of the Congress justified an agreement that extends benefits to its members for months, such as a security guard. In a statement, they indicated that the restoration of this agreement is a response to “death threats” received by the President of Congress. Maria del Carmen Alvaand third vice president Patricia Chirinos.
He also pointed out that manifestations of aggression in the area of the house of the head of parliament are added to these threats. As stated, this agreement includes the escort of a non-commissioned officer of the police on shift – in addition to the security provided to each congressman – and the use of a car to protect them.
In a statement, the Board of Directors indicated that this collateral agreement “is not implemented only in Congress of the Republicbut also in all public authorities, for example, in ministries, where even censored ministers continue to receive security protection six months after leaving office.
Following a series of questions on social media about the decision, the first president of the Congress, Lady Camones, resigned in a letter addressed to Maria del Carmen Alva to these benefits “for what she did not consider necessary for herself personally.”
delayed benefits
Recently legislator Maria del Carmen Alva approved agreement no. 110-2021-2022/MESA-CR as president of Congress to establish that members Board of Directors continue to receive benefits for six months after leaving office.
Benefits include one additional NCO per shift. Additional non-commissioned officers, as well as troops assigned as parliamentarians, will have the same benefits as those serving Board of Directors. They will also have a vehicle and an appropriate supply of fuel, as well as a driver.
The agreement states that since 2009 benefits have been approved for members of the Board of Directors at the end of their term of office. In previous administrations of presidents or presidents of Congress, the continuity of this type of agreement has been criticized.
Legislators will win Maria del Carmen Alva Prieto, as President of Congress; Lady Camones Soriano as First Vice President; Enrique Wong Pujada as Second Vice President; and Patricia Chirinos Venegas as Third Vice President.
