“We note that the approved opinion makes women invisible as subjects of rights and state policy, trying to relegate them to the family space, reproducing the traditional idea of their roles,” it says.
On the other hand, the ministry argues that the approval of the decree calls into question the possibility of Peru joining the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
This will prevent, according to the statement, “to meet our international commitments and responsibilities and the 2030 development agenda”.
Finally, MIMP warns that endorsement of the opinion “encroaches on women’s rights.”
“The inequalities that Peruvian women face require a governing body that will focus on their rights, their autonomy and their freedoms,” the statement said.
Commission approves the project
