TAFT, Oklahoma (AP) – Authorities say a 26 -year -old man was arrested after one person was killed and seven others were injured in a shooting Sunday morning at an outdoor festival in eastern Oklahoma, the the people are witnesses. Cover the background of the shoot.
A warrant of arrest was issued for Skyler Buckner and delivered to the Moscow County Sheriff’s Office Sunday afternoon, according to a statement from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. OSBI said the shooting at the Memorial Day event in Taft, located about 45 miles (72 kilometers) southeast of Tulsi, ranged from 9 to 56 years ago.
A 39-year-old woman was killed, according to OSBI. Injuries to the wounded were considered life threatening.
OSBI had earlier said two young men were injured in the shooting, but on Sunday afternoon it said only one young man was injured.
According to eyewitnesses, the fight preceded the shooting, according to the agency, just after midnight.
“We heard a lot of gunshots and at first they thought they were fairies,” said Sylvia Wilson, owner of Taft’s Boots Cafe, which was then open to accommodate large people. “Then people started running and standing up. We were all shouting …” Come on! Come on! Wilson told The Associated Press by phone from the cafe on Sunday morning.
About 1,500 people attended the event in Taft, where usually only a few hundred people live. Members of the Moscovy County Sheriff’s Office attended and immediately began providing assistance, OSBI said.
“Bullets are literally flying everywhere,” said Jasmine Hill, who worked on a food truck at the event. World of Tulsa.
Hill said he and Tiffany Walton, the owner of a food truck, landed the pigeon on the floor of the truck to avoid the bullets.
“We think we’re safe and the bullets are like the bottom of a food truck,” Hill said. “They didn’t hurt us, thank God.”
The beautiful Bates and his wife were driving another truck when they heard gunshots. He told Tulsa World that most people “just go ashore and try to get off the road.”
“People are just shouting. Some tried to flee. “The cars went and tried not to collide with each other,” he said.
Walton, who lives in Taft, said the city has been hosting several Memorial Day weekend celebrations for decades.
Oklahoma Governor Kevin City Said on Twitter That he thanked OSBI for the “prompt response to assist the local police”.
Wilson estimates that his café is within 100 feet (30 meters) from where filming began. He said law enforcement had previously been on the scene to assist with security and officers responded quickly to the hunt.
“We were nervous,” Wilson said, adding, “But everything is back to normal … the threat is over.”
Buckner was in the Moscovy County Jail on Sunday. Prison records do not list an attorney for him.
