The White House announced Thursday that President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will visit the town of Waldale in Texas on May 29 following the Robbie Elementary School murder.
Biden announced the visit two days after an 18-year-old gunman shot dead a Rob Elementary School building, killing 19 fourth-grade students and two teachers.
It reportedly marked the 27th school shooting this year on United States Records saved by Education Week And it was the second deadliest school shooting in U.S. history.
Hours after the shooting, Biden expressed sympathy to the White House on the need for Congressional gun control measures.
“As a nation we must ask ourselves: when will we stand in the name of God with a lobby of arms?” Biden asked. “When are we going to do what should be done in the name of God? I was sick and tired of it. We need to act. “
“The idea that an 18-year-old could walk into a gun store and buy two assault rifles is simply wrong,” Biden said in a statement. “For God’s sake, we must have the courage to stand up to the industry.”
As a nation we must ask ourselves: when will we stand in the name of God with arms lobby?
When will we do what should be done in God’s name?
I was sick and tired of it. We need to act.
