It is not appropriate to consider any agreements and papers signed by Russia, unlike the agreement with Ukraine, explained the head of NJSC Naftogaz.
Foreign companies continued to use underground gas storage facilities (UGS) in Ukraine, despite the war. This was stated by Yuriy Vitrenko, head of the board of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine, in an interview for Interfax-Ukraine, published on Friday, May 27.
“There are already foreign companies that, starting in April, under war conditions, are still taking risks and storing gas in our storage facilities,” he said.
Vitrenko recalled that in the first months of the war, Ukraine suspended such an opportunity, but reopened the vaults for non -residents.
“Right now, relatively small (storage volumes of non -residents – ed.). The question is simply there is a certain shortage of gas in Europe,” explains the head of the NAC.
According to him, this trust is due to the fact that Ukraine is a reliable partner, unlike Russia.
“We just had a meeting of world economic leaders, they discussed energy security, and the Polish Minister of Energy, Ms. Anna Moskva, explicitly said: you see, we have contracts, Bulgaria has contracts, but the Russians do not fulfill them. Therefore, consider any agreements and papers signed by Russia are not worth it, unlike the agreement with Ukraine, “Vitrenko said.
Recall that at the end of January, non-residents withdrew almost all gas from the Ukrainian underground storage facilities. Gas reserves of foreign companies dropped 38 times a year.
UGS facilities in the Chernihiv region were damaged as a result of shelling
