former minister Gainer Alvarado Lopez requested Power of attorney to punish those responsible for the violation of their rights during the detention on March 31.
Through guardianship of rights, Humberto Abanto, lawyer for former head of the Government’s Housing Portfolio, Pedro Castillo, claims that his client was detained by agents of the Peruvian National Police (PNP) task force without obtaining a court order for pre-trial detention and that he was not allowed to use the assistance of his lawyer .
The document was submitted to the Office of the Chief Justice Juan Carlos Chekliwhich scheduled a May 4 virtual hearing in which it will evaluate the resource with stakeholders to reach a decision on the matter.
Recall that the former Minister of Housing Gainer Alvarado is serving 36 months of pre-trial detention in the prison of Miguel Castro Castro in the Tarat-Peteroper case. On the same issue, former President Pedro Castillo is also serving a preventive detention, but in the Barbadillo prison.

The lawyer has already criticized the capture of Gainer Alvarado
Humberto Abanto, lawyer Gainer Alvarado, questioned the operation that led to his client’s capture. In an interview with RPP Noticias, the arrest must have taken place at the moment when the police officers had a warrant in their hands.
“I cannot raise my hand against anyone, as against state power, without a written and reasoned order from a judge. He (Alvarado) understands that he was captured, (but) he could not be captured. What has been given cannot be given Whether or not we consider a person to be a criminal, constitutional norms must be taken seriously,” he said.
On the other hand, he stated that Alvarado López was not in danger of fleeing and that he intended to surrender to the authorities. “I sent him in my sister’s handwriting via WhatsApp a list of things he needed in prison because he and I were going to surrender to go to Dininkri (…) to comply (for this reason) I gave him a list where he was told everything what he needed to have to keep him in prison,” he said.
