Criminal lawyer Carlos Caro considered this Friday that the former President of the Republic, Pedro Castillomay receive more than 10 years for the alleged crime of mutiny.
In an interview program no return from RPP TV, indicated that the case, which was brought after the failed coup d’état on December 7, 2022, is “very limited”. “This process could go very quickly and could mean the first sentence against Castillo,” he said.
According to Karo Koria, the Ministry of Public Administration “may launch a tax charge” within the next six months. “And after the reorganization process, an intermediate stage that can last about half a year, in 2024 Castillo will already have an oral trial,” he said.
The lawyer said that if the court acts quickly, the verdict for the ex-president may be known in the same 2024.
About the case to Petroper
When asked about the case of Petroperou and the ministries of transport and housing, in which the former head of state appears on charges of a criminal organization, Carlos Caro replied:
“In this case, we will have a much longer process. This is a public auction, and according to the times of the prosecutor’s office, analysis, examination, this process will only take two or three years in the senior classes, and the oral court will still take place at least 4-5 years ahead.
The lawyer said that for this alleged crime, Pedro Castillo could be sentenced to more than 30 years in prison. “Penalties go in parallel. The refurbishment process is underway,” he added.
