This morning, the court ruled to suspend preliminary hearing against former Petroperú CEO Hugo Chávez Arevalo and businessman Daniel Principe Collazos. Judge Manuel Chuyo ZavaletaThe Second Preparatory Investigation Court of the Superior Court of Lima, specified that the new hearing will take place on April 3 at 9:30.
National Prosecutor’s Office requested 36 months of the aforementioned preventive measure as part of an investigation into alleged crimes of a criminal organization and aggravated conspiracy. According to his thesis, Chavez would prefer the company Heaven Petroleum Operators (HPO)which is owned by Samir Abudai, in order to supply B100 iododiesel fuel to Petroper in the amount of 74 million dollars.
Ties to Pedro Castillo
Recall that in October 2021, the Sunday newspaper Panomara reported that former President Pedro Castillo met with Samir Abuday and Hugo Chávez at the Government Palace. Interestingly, two weeks later the tender for diesel fuel was won by Heaven Petroleum Operators.
In response, on November 25, 2022, the judiciary ordered Chávez to be placed in pre-trial detention for ten days. Similarly, he ordered the same action to be taken against the former head of the National Intelligence Agency (DINI). Jose Fernandez Latorreformer presidential adviser Henry Shimabukuro and businessman Sameer Abudai.
At the time, Petroperú’s former manager Chávez Arevalo was not found at home. However, after passing the days as if nothing had happened, he appeared at the headquarters of the Public Ministry.
