White House spokesperson Jen Psaki said she will miss Peter Duss, a White House correspondent for Fox News, after he resigned after the last podium briefing on Friday.
“I will,” Psaki said when asked about Doocy Thursday at an event spearheaded by Christian Science Monitor.
“I think we have a great professional relationship and I understand that he goes there to ask questions that are important to the relationship and to the department he works in, and I respect him and we have healthy debates and discussions,” Psaki said. . .
Psaki added that “that doesn’t mean I agree with his line of questioning most days,” but he said he still answers Duss’s questions.
Dusi apparently shared this feeling last week when Psaki announced his departure.
“Sorry to go,” Dusi said when Psaki called.
“Are you?” Psaki replied.
“Yes, and you’ve always been a great sport,” Dusi replied, thanking Psaki for his services.
The couple repeatedly addressed Duss’s recent question about the lack of a mask request in the White House meeting room.
“Okay, Peter, I’m not a doctor, you’re not a doctor – I know that … well, not a doctor,” Psaki said. “He also doesn’t play TV, almost every day”.
This is not the first time a conflicting relationship has caught attention. In an interview with Pod Save America, a spokesman was asked if he was a “dumb kid” after President Joe Biden was caught whispering into a hot microphone in January.
“He works with a network that asks people questions that aren’t personal to anyone, including Peter Duss, but can look like a stupid kid,” Psaki said.
This prompted a response from Fox News.
“His questions are his, he’s a great journalist and we’re proud of his work,” the spokesperson said.
Psaki, following his last press conference, will be replaced by his deputy Carine Jean-Pierre, who will go down in history as the first woman of color and the first openly gay on paper.
