The various benches of the Congress of the Republic put forward their candidates for the vacant position of acting person in the Office of the Ombudsman. Who are these six characters proposed by the legislators?
The process of selecting suitable candidates is the responsibility of a special commission Congress. The group is chaired by parliamentarian Manuel Garcia Correa (Alliance for Progress).

Among the candidates are Gaston Soto Vallenas, former president of the defunct National Council of Magistracy (CNM). The lawyer was proposed by Alianza Para el Progreso and Somos Perú.
Another candidate for the post of ombudsman is a constitutionalist Jorge Luis Rioja Vallejosat the suggestion of the deputy groups “Main Block” and “People’s Action”.
Meanwhile, the bench of Peru Libre is presented as a candidate for Josu Gutierrez Condor, who was a Congressman of the Republic in the period 2011-2016 from the Nationalist Party. While the Popular Renewal bench is nominated Miguel Soriaformer Vice Minister for Human Rights.
Also among the candidates Pedro Cartolin Pastor, who is currently a member of the Permanent Court of Constitutional and Social Law of the Supreme Court. It has been proposed by Podemos Peru as well as Somos Peru.

Schedule
In accordance with the schedule approved by the special commission chaired by Congressman Garcia Correa, starting next Tuesday, May 9, 2023, a plenary meeting will be held Congress can elect a new ombudsman.
