The President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, mentioned the protests ongoing in the Puno area and demanding them resignation And closing of Congress. Given this, the president noted that nothing would be gained from her leaving office and, moreover, she did not intend to do so. On the other hand, he elaborated that those attending the marches may not be sure of their motives and that they probably want a number of improvements in water supply, sewerage, schools and hospitals.
“Perhaps the vast majority of the Puno brothers and sisters who go out to protest think they are marching because they are demanding more water., more drainage, more schools, more hospitals. But those who are part of this small, radical, aggressive group that wants to turn the Puno region into anarchy are asking for the Congress to be shut down. But I cannot close the Congress,” he said during his participation in the Con Punche Regional dialogue table for peace and governance.
“They demand a Constituent Assembly, but I cannot convene a Constituent Assembly. They are asking me to release former President Pedro Castillo, but I cannot release him. They are demanding early elections, and we have twice proposed legislative initiatives in Congress, so that they can discuss that they are demanding my resignation, and I ask this aggressive group and some leaders: What will they get with my resignation? Nothing is won and it’s not my choice to leave”, he added.
Dina Boluarte indicates that she will go to Puno “when we reach a peace talk”.
On another occasion, Boluarte Zegarra mentioned that he would go to Puno when a dialogue could be arranged. In the meantime, everything will be decided with representatives of the executive power in the region.
“We’ll go to Punto as soon as we get to the peace talk.Because that is how we Peruvians should treat each other and we will come with respect. Meanwhile, there are representatives of the executive branch trying to have an open, sincere and sisterly dialogue, ”he said.
“If we count and count, you brothers from the region of Puno, Get your account how much you have lost during these two months of suspension. The Virgen de la Candelaria did not take place and millions were lost,” he concluded.
