Prior to the incident, authorities said Congressman Todd Bryan’s vehicle was parked as he spoke to pedestrians on the beach before being sent to investigate an emergency call elsewhere.
Bryan, a 58-year-old lawmaker who drove a “fully labeled” 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe, was “right” to answer a call as he approached a 23-year-old woman “while lying down. “His back is in the sand,” the sheriff’s office said.
The solarium was identified by Robin Defender.
“According to investigators, the Tahoe’s front driver’s wheel moved to the right side of the Differfer and to the center and rear,” authorities wrote.
The sheriff’s office said Defenderfer received “life -threatening injuries” and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Brian, who worked for the Pinela County Sheriff’s Office for nearly a decade, was not injured in the accident.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
No further details on Difffenderfer’s condition were released.
