This war forced the native of Georgia to remember all the pain he experienced in 1993 in his native Sukhumi.
The creative director of the fashion house Balenciaga Demna Gvasalia spoke about his Ukraine from the first days of the Russian war. She shared her revelations in an interview with NYT Style Magazine.
In March, during Paris Fashion Week, a brand show was held, which Gvasalia presented to our country. He even wanted to cancel the show due to the mass invasion of the Russian Federation, but he changed his mind anyway and T-shirts with the colors of the Ukrainian flag were waiting on the seats of the guests.
Gvasalia emphasized that Russia’s war against Ukraine reminded him of all the pain he experienced in 1993. After troops arrived in his hometown of Sukhum in Georgia, the family was forced to flee.
“The war in Ukraine triggered the pain of a past trauma that I have carried since 1993, when the same thing happened in my own country, and when I became a refugee forever. Forever, because that’s what stays with you . Fear, despair, the realization that no one needs you,” Gvasalia said.
Remember, the great-nephew of the 35th US President John F. Kennedy, 28-year-old Conor Kennedy admitted that he defended Ukraine from the Russian invaders. He served in the ranks of the International Legion.
