The performer admitted that every day he wakes up and goes to sleep with news about Ukraine.
Latvian singer Laima Vaikule expressed support for Ukraine for the first time since the start of a full-scale war. The corresponding video was published on his Instagram page by the musician Micheles Vite.
So, during his concert, the performer, together with the musician Janis Stibelis, unfolded a blue-and-yellow banner, thereby showing which side they were on.
Later, in an interview with Delfi, the star said that it could not be otherwise, and his position was clear.
“How could it be otherwise? What else can be expected of me? We live in Latvia, I am a citizen of Latvia, our policy and position is clear. I think that there are no people in Latvia who are for war. Here it is viewed we have the blue sky, and they are launching rockets into Ukraine and killing every living thing,” he said.
At the same time, Laima added that she will not give concerts in Russia.
It was previously reported that the American pop-rock band OneRepublic supported Ukraine in their concert in Toronto.
