The French feature inspired by a royal case brings the story of false harassment between student and teacher and surprises; See the criticism
Imagine that you are a teacher who loves your students who tries to make a difference in the lives of each of them. So far, that’s okay, right? But imagine being accused of sexual harassment by one of his best students of only 13 years? That’s where it all starts to collapse.
Based on a real story, the plot of “The Good Teacher”, a long French Teddy Lussi-Modeste, reports the episode lived by Professor Julien, lived by François Civilin a poor neighborhood college in France.
Julien tries to be the best possible professional for his students, even takes students with higher grades to eat out as a way to reward them. But all this turns up to the end when a student accuses him of harassment and reports that the teacher “goes on” her during class. The feature holds the viewer’s attention in a thought -provoking way. The division created by the atmosphere of the environment makes the person who is watching also wonders about the teacher’s fault.
The protagonist himself has no risk at any time and for anyone. But it brings out the collective fear coming from past and real cases that have happened (and happen to this day) in different schools around the world. Thinking on a more technical side, the direction abuses simple elements such as the silence of the scene to abuse the feeling of anguish and despair – both the teacher and who watches.
The performance of François Civil It is stunning and proves that, although still a young actor, it is a great power of French cinema, consolidated mainly in the scenes where the protagonist is lost in his own thoughts and remains firm about his convictions and principles.
The character at no time fails to fight for the students, but naturally revolts with them and all the situation that is inserted. It is at the time of anger that Julien lets out his explosive side, returning all the coldness that the students directed them during this period of distrust. The protagonist, until almost the end, remains very full. It is gray as the tone of scenes, which show that the peaceful also hides great dilemmas.
