The artist shared his experience of working in the series The Agency from Paramount+, where he played the role of an undercover Ukrainian military man.
Ukrainian actor Alexander Rudinsky spoke about his path to the international project The Agency from Paramount+, shot by Hollywood directors Joe Wright and Neil Berger.
In an interview on Rozmov’s YouTube channel, the artist shared the details of casting, filming and his principled position on cooperation with the Russians.
The audition for the role began with a Zoom call with director Joe Wright. Rudinsky claims to be Ukrainian military man Alexander Butenko, who performs undercover missions in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. At the request of the director, the actor recorded self-evaluations in Ukrainian. He was auditioned by a casting director known for casting actors for the films Dune and The Lost and Lost. The actor spent a month and a half waiting for the final decision.
The actor appears in four episodes of the series. He shared that the director supported his creative ideas, and even added a scene that was not in the original script. I especially remember the scene where he broke the window of the car with the words “Glory to Ukraine, bitches!”, passing through a Russian checkpoint. Although the shooting experienced technical difficulties due to an unsuccessful glass explosion, the director left this moment in the final edit, which was a pleasant surprise for Rudinsky.
Alexander also noted that he immediately discussed with the director his position on working with Russian actors. The team supported his request, and the characters of Russians and Belarusians were played by actors from Poland, Georgia and the Baltic countries.
As for the producer of the series, George Clooney, the actor has not met him yet. However, at one of the actors’ meetings I had the opportunity to see Michael Fassbender, who played the main role.
“It was at this meeting where I saw him and according to history, I work on the territory of Ukraine, which I control and occupy a task as an agent, that is, we do not overlap with him in locations,” said Rudinsky .
It was previously reported that Alexander Rudinsky starred in the Netflix series Decameron.
