King Charles III knighted Christopher Nolan and his wife, producer Emma Thomas, received a knighthood for her contribution to cinema.
Christopher Nolan, the legendary director of Interstellar and Oppenheimer, has officially been knighted, Comic Book reports.
In a ceremony held on December 18 at Buckingham Palace, King Charles III awarded the Briton for his contribution to the development of cinema.
Along with Nolan, his wife, producer Emma Thomas, also received a high honor. She was awarded a woman’s title for her contribution to the film industry.
After the ceremony, the British director praised the meeting with the king as the most incredible. She added that it was important for her and her husband to receive the award together.
Christopher Nolan also revealed that the king watched his most acclaimed latest film Oppenheimer. “It’s great that he knows that this is our work and without a doubt I hope that the award received is an incentive to create more,” said the director.
This milestone ends the year for Nolan, who won his first Academy Award for Best Director thanks to Oppenheimer.
