For the first time in the history of the competition, 34-year-old Angelique Angarny-Philopon received the title of Miss France. Thanks to the new rules, married women, mothers and French women over the age of 24 were allowed to participate.
At the Miss France 2025 beauty pageant, Angelique Angarni-Philopon, a 34-year-old flight attendant from the island of Martinique, became the oldest holder of this title in history. This was reported by France 24.
Her success was made possible by updated rules that now allow married women, mothers and those over 24 to participate.
“In 2011, the Miss Martinique pageant won the first place of a young woman aged 20. Now stands before you the same 34-year-old girl, who once again represents Martinique, its diaspora, and all the women who were once told that they were too much it’s too late,” Angarni-Philopon said in her speech after the victory.
The final of the competition brought 30 participants, including doctors, dentists and women of other professions. The program includes a fashion show in swimsuits, regional costumes and ballgowns, as well as performances in country music, Latin American rhythms, hits from the 90s and even Mozart’s classical music.
Angarny-Philopont will receive a year’s salary, access to an apartment in Paris and numerous gifts from sponsors.
Pageant organizers said the changes are aimed at combating unrealistic beauty standards and creating a platform for successful and accomplished women. Miss France strives to keep up with the times, breaking stereotypes about who can be the epitome of beauty.
This year has become a true symbol of changes in the traditions of the competition, opening new opportunities for French women, regardless of their age or status.
