German officials noted that Slovakia has repeatedly shown “difficulty” in organizing the center’s work.

Germany decided to move the repair center for large Ukrainian military equipment, established in Slovakia, to its own territory. This was reported by the German media ntv in connection with a statement by a representative of the German Ministry of Defense the process should be completed by December 31, 2024.

The corresponding decision was made due to organizational problems and operational processes at the Slovak facility.

The repair center in Slovakia started working from the end of 2022. It services the main military equipment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, including the Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzer, Dingo armored vehicle, MARS II missile system and Gepard anti-aircraft gun.

German officials noted that Slovakia has repeatedly shown “difficulty” in organizing the center’s work.

Among the main problems are disagreements in the interpretation of European customs rules and difficulties in carrying out basic repairs of damaged equipment.

Germany assures that, despite the transfer of the center, the repair of equipment remains a priority for Ukraine. In addition, other German repair centers are already operating in Lithuania and Ukraine, which also service military equipment provided by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As you know, the first Rheinmetall plant has started operating in Ukraine. They plan to launch a second one soon. There should be four such factories in total.

Ukraine will receive 20 Marder infantry fighting vehicles from Germany
