The British singer and composer, despite his brilliant musical career, considers his main legacy to be the role of a loving husband and father to two sons.
Elton John, 77, one of the most famous musicians of the 20th century, made a moving statement about how he wants to be remembered, People reports.
At TIME magazine’s Icon of the Year awards, the artist said he tries to be known above all as a loving father.
“All I want on my tombstone is, ‘He was a great father,'” Elton John said.
The musician and her husband David Furnish have two children, 13-year-old Zachary and 11-year-old Elijah. Elton admits that family is the most important part of his life. After the ceremony, in an interview with Good Morning America, the singer added:
“My legacy is that I was a good husband and a better father… The music, the career – it’s incredible. It’s amazing, revolutionary. But the most important thing for me in life is to make sure that my children are Happy, that they have a Happy life and that I treat them well.”
Despite severe vision problems, Elton John continues to inspire millions with his example and appreciation of life.
