After the great success at the box office in 2023, a sequel to “Barbie” is being analyzed by the creators of the first film. The director Greta Gerwig and the screenwriter Noah Baumbach, a couple who have already been nominated for an Oscar, would be starting the first steps towards the development of “Barbie 2”.

According to information obtained by the American website The Hollywood Reporter, the two have already presented an initial idea to Warner Bros. However, both studio and filmmaker representatives officially deny that there are concrete negotiations underway for the project.

The possibility of a sequel has always been conditioned on the creation of a well-structured narrative, as Gerwig stated several times during the promotion of the film, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. In March of this year, during Time magazine’s “Women of the Year” ceremony, she also mentioned the chance of the Mattel universe returning to theaters. “If I find the right idea, we move forward. Otherwise, there will be no sequel,” he declared.
