Russian artists have been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for their charity project Voice of Peace.
Russian musicians Elizaveta Girdymova, better known as Monetochka, and Ivan Alekseev, who performs under the pseudonym Noize MC, received nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize.
They received this recognition for their charitable initiative Voice of Peace, which was launched in 2022.
“The most important thing is that with their voices they represent a new generation that speaks for humanitarian values,” said Professor Arnfinn Vunen, commenting on the nomination.
Monetochka and Noize MC have long opposed Kremlin policies. In Russia they are officially recognized as “foreign agents” and forced to leave the country because of the regime. Their Voice of Peace project not only supports humanistic ideals, but also helps people affected by the consequences of conflict.
