Elton John received the honorary title of 2024 Icon of the Year from Time magazine. The 77-year-old musician was honored for his more than 50-year career.
The American Time magazine named Elton John Icon of the Year 2024.
The singer received the honorary title for his many years of contribution to music, the creation of cult hits and his active position in society.
“Elton John’s candle cannot be extinguished, no matter how strong the wind,” the publication said.
The title comes on the eve of the premiere of the documentary Elton John: It’s Never Too Late on the Disney+ platform.
On his page on Instagram, the musician shared his feelings and remembered his difficult journey: “Icon of the Time of the Year – it’s an honor to remember my journey – from the ups and downs of my early career to peace and happiness of life with my husband! and two beautiful sons – I remember the incredible support and love that shaped my path this is a personal milestone and a reminder to the world that being yourself is iconic,” he wrote.
Elton John has been in show business for over 60 years, 50 of them on the big stage. During this time, the artist created 57 hits that occupied the top positions in the world charts. In addition, his music for Disney animated films and Broadway musicals has earned him Oscar and Tony awards. The singer is also the winner of several Grammy awards.
The magazine also highlighted the musician’s active social activities. Elton John is known for his fight against AIDS and other initiatives aimed at helping vulnerable communities.
