The sister of King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, Princess Birgitta Ingeborg Alice of Sweden, has died at the age of 87.

Princess Birgitta was born in 1937 to the Swedish royal family. He is the second child of Prince Gustav Adolf Duke of Västerbotten and Princess Sibylla of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.
In 1961, Birgitta married the German Prince Johann Georg of Hohenzollern. Their marriage lasted more than half a century, until the prince’s death in 2016. The couple had three children.
