The masterpiece of Machado de Assis‘Dom Casmurro’, gets a musical adaptation that promises to delight the public by mixing the classic narrative with original music.

With lyrics and compositions by Guilherme Giladramaturgy David Novaes and direction of Zé Henrique de Paulathe show presents a contemporary look at themes that remain urgent, such as toxic masculinity, distrust and jealousy.

Under the experienced direction of Zé Henrique de Paulaknown for its contributions to national musical theater, and produced by the award-winning ‘A Casa que Fala’ and ‘Tomate Produções’, the show celebrates theater’s ability to give new meaning to stories and attract diverse audiences.

Cast

Luci Salutes plays Capitu, the enigmatic protagonist whose “gypsy” look provokes passions and uncertainties in Bentinho. Rodrigo Mercadante takes on the role of Bentinho, the narrator dominated by jealousy and insecurity, while Cleomacio Ignatius lives Escobar, the best friend whose proximity to Capitu intensifies the conflicts.

Larissa Carneiro plays a double role: as Prima Justina, a loyal figure who stands in contrast to the protagonists’ dilemmas, and as Sancha, Capitu’s friend and Escobar’s wife.

Fábio Enriquez embodies José Dias, the peculiar member of the family, while Nábia Villela brings to life the influential Dona Glória, a mother whose decisions shape Bentinho’s destiny. Eduardo Leão completes the main cast as Tio Cosme, the wise relative who offers consideration amid the emotional turmoil.

With carefully constructed performances and a contemporary look at the classic plot dilemmas, the cast promises to transport the public to a vibrant and thought-provoking reinterpretation of this classic of Brazilian literature.
