Heading towards its last week on display in São Paulo, the cast revealed inspirations for the plot in an exclusive interview; check it out!
After success in Ipatinga (MG) and Rio de Janeiro, the musical “Por Elas” arrives in São Paulo, with an unmissable season from November 1st to 24th, at Teatro Nair Bello, located in Shopping Frei Caneca. The show, which has been winning over the public and critics, was produced by Andarilho Filmes, owned by the actress and singer Eline Portowho also signs the text and is part of the cast.
The work is a tribute to the trajectory of real women, celebrating their life stories and struggles, uniting different generations through music.
The plot of “Por Elas” is based on conversations that Eline he had with women in his family during the pandemic period. These exchanges of personal experiences and memories gave rise to a text full of truth and emotion.
I come from a family of six women, so I’ve heard women’s stories my whole life and my family is a very struggling family. Women have a lot of strength, a lot of determination to chase their dreams like that. And this really inspired me to not only be an artist, but a woman who takes a stand, a woman who goes after the things I believe in”, she says Eline in an exclusive interview with Máxima.
Strong cast
The São Paulo season brings important reinforcements to the cast, with the presence of big names in musical theater. Laura Lobowho shone in productions such as “The Addams Family” and “Les Misérables”, returns to Brazil after a season in Israel and joins the project.
Nayara Venânciowhich was part of renowned productions such as “Wicked” and “The Lion King”, is also one of the highlights on stage, alongside Larissa Carneironominated for the Bibi Ferreira Award for her performance in “Um Grande Encontro”.
Maria Bravo, with stints in “A Noviça Rebelde” and “Clube da Esquina”, she remains in the cast, accompanied by Elina, famous for starring in shows such as “The Last 5 Years” and “Bonnie & Clyde”. Together, these talented artists form a strong female cast that promises to enchant and move the public.
Laura stated that the construction of her character occurs like a great “Frankenstein”, as she takes small inspirations from different people: “I take a little, there are a little bit from a lot of people who have passed by and sometimes you are neither nor conscious sometimes and you suddenly catch yourself one day and realize you say wow, I said that just like so-and-so, you know?”
Representation of a people
Already Larissaon the other hand, says that he is inspired not just by one person, but by a strong and joyful people. “I start the play with a story about a northeastern woman. No one in particular came to mind. A people came to me, a story of a people of which I am part. So, when I bring this, I bring the story of people, dozens of people who live in me too and who permeate me, my flesh, my blood, the earth, literally, where I came from”, he shares.
On the other hand, the songs also play a fundamental role in the plot, as they illustrate the feelings of the powerful characters in different ways. The cast revealed each of their favorite numbers. Laura states: “The song ‘Medo’ is a song that I identify with a lot, because it says that a lot. How scary it is to be standing still in one place, everyone moving and me standing here in one place. I think everyone has that feeling sometimes, no matter how long you’ve had, I don’t know, 20 years in your career.”
Power of song
“My medley is very beautiful, just like ‘Our Fathers’. So, it’s very, very iconic to sing,” he says. Marya. “It’s a song from Eline also, which is ‘Deixa’ and I still walked here to the theater today and thought about how I wish I had heard this song before, when I was a teenager so, you know, I think I would have avoided so many bad things. Because it really is a hymn of life and it really is a teaching that we can apply to our daily lives”, he adds Nayara.
Pre-Grammy
Eline also celebrates, in addition to the piece, a pre-nomination for the 2024 Latin Grammy and shares the joy: “It took me three years to release my album and it was years of composition work. It’s just that I found two wonderful producers who are also incredible. But I’m very happy that these songs impacted someone or reached people and people sang these songs, you know? That to me is wonderful.”
