A new ITV documentary will uncover rare royal archives and reveal how Princess Diana inspired William to tackle homelessness.
The two-part documentary Prince William: We Can End Homelessness will air on ITV in late October.
In support of the project, Kensington Palace shared never-before-seen footage of Princess Diana and baby Prince William visiting the Passage charity in 1993. This moment became the future king’s first acquaintance with the problem of homelessness, which later became an important part of his charity work.
“My mother always tried to put everyone at ease: she laughed heartily, she joked with everyone… I remember our good communication, our chess games, idle conversations,” recalled Prince William, adding that Diana’s public activities had a great impact on the formation of her values in life.
The prince explained that he continues this tradition today by discussing the topic of homelessness with his children.
“When I was little, my mother started talking to me about homelessness, and I do the same now when I take my children to school. it’s like you’re trying to understand, “What’s going on? You just ask, for example: why are these people sitting? And my mother explained to us little by little why these people are there. And all this, of course, very- wonderful,” said Prince William.
It was previously reported that Prince Andrew’s ex-wife Sarah Ferguson paid tribute to her close friend and ex-wife of King Charles III, Princess Diana.
