After a five-year hiatus due to criticism of its lack of diversity, Victoria’s Secret has revived its show with high-profile models and a new approach to presenting its collections.
After a five-year hiatus, Victoria’s Secret is bringing back its popular angel show, streaming live on its new collection on YouTube.
The show marked the first time since 2018 that the brand has been at the center of a controversy with criticism over a lack of diversity in its models and reluctance to include plus-size lingerie. These problems caused a negative reaction in society, so Victoria’s Secret had to suspend its big shows, carry out internal reforms and change its marketing strategy.
Famous model ambassadors of the brand, such as Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio and Behati Prinsloo, returned to the catwalk this time, as well as invited guests, including Barbara Palvin and, for the first time, the supermodels Kate Moss and Carla Bruni. Gigi Hadid opened the show and 90s runway star Tyra Banks closed it.
A special feature of this show is the musical lineup, which for the first time consists exclusively of women of different nationalities. Performers included South African singer Tyla, Thai singer Lisa and American legend Cher, who performed her hits Strong Enough and Believe.
The show symbolizes a new phase for the brand, which strives to meet modern demands for diversity and inclusion.
It was previously reported that the Victoria’s Secret lingerie store is in the middle of a scandal because of an incident with a transgender woman.
