Sumy State University received the highest position among Ukrainian universities, joining the group of universities that took place in the range of 801-1000 in the world rankings.
The British rating agency Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025 includes 17 Ukrainian universities. This was reported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
It was found that a total of 2,095 institutions from 115 countries were evaluated. This year, a record number of Ukrainian universities were included in the ranking – 17 higher educational institutions from Dnipro, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Lvov, Odessa, Sumy, Uzhgorod, Kharkov and Chernivtsi. There is also a record number of Ukrainian universities that applied to participate in the ranking – 55, which is a third more than last year.
Sumy State University has reportedly received the highest position among Ukrainian universities, joining the group of universities ranked in the range of 801-1000 in the world rankings.
All other Ukrainian establishments fall into the 1501+ group.
In particular, the National Medical University named after Bogomolets, the Odessa National University named after Mechnikov and the National University of Prykarpattya named after Stefanyk appeared in the ranking table for the first time.
As noted by the Ministry of Education, according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025 method, the activities of universities are evaluated according to 18 performance indicators, which are combined into five general indicators: educational activity, research environment , research quality, collaboration with industry and international openness.
In total, TimesHigherEducation analysts analyzed 157 million citations and 18 million scientific publications from the Scopus database, and also evaluated more than 93 thousand scientists from around the world during their own reputation surveys.
Let’s recall that last year six Ukrainian universities were among the thousand most sustainable universities in the annual ranking of ImpactRankings from the British rating agency Times Higher Education.
As reported, this year in Ukraine, 69 thousand applicants entered the budgetary form of education to get a bachelor’s degree. This year, state grants were introduced for contract applicants with high MST scores.
