The actress couple commented in an interview about their return to the stage with the production ‘Love and Other Revolutions’; find out more
Next Saturday, March 9th, the actresses Mariana Nunes43 years old, and Tati Vilellaof 36, begin a new season from the play “Love and Other Revolutions” at SESC São João de Meriti.
The show, which celebrates women’s month, will run until March 30th. In an interview with CARAS Brasil, the protagonists share their expectations about the resumption of production.
The text, signed by Tati Vilella, addresses the Afro-centered love theme between two black women. Both actresses expressed great pride in the project and highlighted the emotional impact that the play has had on the public.
Mariana Nunes emphasized the audience’s reaction: “It’s impressive how the play touches people. It’s gratifying to see the audience’s feedback, many identify with it and feel represented by the story.”
Tati Vilella highlighted the relevance of discussing this topic today: “We are talking about love between two black women. In times when individualities are increasingly discussed, addressing love is never obsolete. The innovation of the play lies precisely in dealing with love from this perspective.”
Part stopped
The montage originally premiered in 2022 and was interrupted so that actresses could dedicate themselves to audiovisual projects. Mariana Nunes acted in the series “Todas as Flores”, while Tati Vilella participated in the cast of “Vai na Fé”.
When asked about possible changes to the piece over time,Tati commented: “Theatre is changeable and so is our play. Every year we bring new ideas and adapt some things. The text evolves as we ourselves change.”
Tati also highlighted the importance of representation: “There is a lack of narratives that deal with love between black women. The plurality in the narrative and the unique perspective of a black author are fundamental elements that give the play authenticity.”
