Taylor Swift topped the Forbes rankings, becoming the first artist to earn a billion dollars through music alone, beating Rihanna.
Forbes magazine has published its annual ranking of the world’s richest musicians.
Taylor Swift took the lead with $1.6 billion, ahead of Rihanna with $1.4 billion. Swift became the first performer to achieve billionaire status solely through her musical activities. Her success stands out especially against the backdrop of Rihanna, who earns a large portion of her wealth through her business in the cosmetics and fashion industries.
Last year, Taylor earned $100 million from Spotify royalties alone. Forbes’ list of the richest musicians also includes rapper Jay-Z with a capital of $2.5 billion and singers Selena Gomez ($1.3 billion), Madonna ($850 million) and Beyoncé ($760 million).
It was previously reported that Taylor Swift announced her support for the candidacy of Democratic Party contender Kamala Harris for the presidency of the United States.
