Harris emphasized that he would not agree to negotiations with the Kremlin leader in Ukraine without the participation of Kyiv.
US presidential candidate from the Democratic Party, Kamala Harris, said that she will not agree to negotiations to end the war in Ukraine with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin without the participation of Kyiv. He spoke about it in an interview with CBS News.
Asked if he would meet with Putin to negotiate a solution to the war in Ukraine, Harris said no.
“On a bilateral basis, without Ukraine – Ukraine should not have the right to vote about the future of Ukraine,” said the vice president.
Harris added that ending the war will not be successful without the involvement of Ukraine and the UN Charter in defining what that success looks like.
Asked if Harris supported expanding NATO to include Ukraine, the vice president avoided answering.
“These are all issues that we will address if and when we get to that point. Right now, we support Ukraine’s ability to defend itself against unprovoked Russian aggression,” Harris said.
We remind you that the US presidential candidate from the Republican Party, Donald Trump, said that he would “achieve negotiations” between Putin and Zelensky if elected.
