Transgender athlete ranks among top 100 and continues to seek spot in Ladies Professional Golf Association
To advance to the next round, it was necessary to finish among the top 96 players, and Davidson easily secured her spot. Now, she is preparing to compete in another qualifying tournament, scheduled for October in Florida, in the hopes of qualifying for the final round of the tournament later this year and bringing even more LGBTQIA+ visibility.
Davidson is fighting for her place in professional sports and continues to seek success in the LPGA, taking the LGBT+ community with her. She had previously been barred from competing in a professional golf tournament in Florida, but was granted permission by the LPGA to participate in its qualifying matches, thanks to the organization’s transgender inclusion policy, which was implemented in 2010.
Despite her accomplishments, Davidson has faced criticism, including from fellow players and former Olympian Caitlyn Jenner, who said Davidson was “mediocre” before her transition and that her chances of success on the LPGA were limited. However, Davidson continues to excel and defy expectations, showing determination in her journey to professional golf.
