Tarantino held Baldwin responsible for the death of cameraman Galina Hutchins on the set of Rust.
American director Quentin Tarantino expressed his opinion about the tragic incident on the film set rustwhen Alec Baldwin accidentally shot and killed Ukrainian cameraman Galina Hutchins during a rehearsal.
Despite the fact that the court dismissed all charges against Baldwin, Tarantino believes that the actor is also responsible for the death of Hutchins. According to Tarantino, Baldwin had to check the gun before the scene to make sure it was safe.
“90% of the blame is on the prop guy, but 10% on the actor. If you have a gun in your hands, you have a responsibility to check it,” the 61-year-old director commented on the Club Random podcast, reports TMZ.
At the same time, SAG-AFTRA – the union that represents all working actors – issued statements clarifying that they do not believe an actor should be required to undergo a weapons check before filming.
It should be noted that gunsmith Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who was responsible for security on the set, was found guilty of manslaughter in the killing of Hutchins. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
It was previously reported that the family of cameraman Galina Hutchins planned to fight to the end and bring the actor to justice for his death.
