Alagoas theater collective Ozinformais premieres two shows in Recife

“The fact that we are a political theater group, where we question the direction of cultural management, made us a target in Maceió”

After the success of the productions in Maceió (AL), the theater collective from Alagoas, Ozinformais, will present two shows in Recife. The play “It’s Better to Die Than to Feel Longing” premieres today (21), at 8 pm, at the Hermilo Borba Filho Theater, and “Drums that Scream Maceió is a Farce” will have its session tomorrow (22), also at 8 pm, at the Apolo Theater, both located in Recife Antigo.

With a history of manifest productions, Ozinformais is a theater group from Alagoas with 20 years of experience, having performed in the cities of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Penedo, Arapiraca, Campina Grande, Palmeira dos Índios, among other places in the Northeast. In 2024, there were 3 shows (Umbigo; Nosso Amor Puro… Pulou O Muro; É Melhor Morrer Do Que Sentir Saudade), with 17 performances in 3 cities. The play “É Melhor morrer do que sentir saudade” is a collage of love texts by Arnaldo Jabor, Domingos Oliveira, Shakespeare and Chacal, directed by Carlos Alberto Barros and the cast composed of actors Antônio Gueiros and Paulo Moura in the cast.

“It’s Better to Die Than to Miss Someone”
“We are very excited about this premiere because it has a very different context. The fact that we are a political theater group, where we question the direction of cultural management, made us targeted in Maceió, to the point of denying the agenda, being welcomed in Recife has a unique symbolism, due to the entire historical context that involves the cities. We hope to meet expectations”, highlighted the group’s director, Carlos Alberto Barros.

The manifesto “Drums that Scream Maceió is Farce” is of the Farce genre, based on texts by Bertolt Brecht and the contemporary experiences of the artists/drummers who compose the work. Also staged and dramaturgy by Carlos Alberto Barros, the show is composed of journalistic and everyday scenes, with sharp social/behavioral criticism of our enemies and/or allies. With the aesthetics of Bertolt Brecht’s epic theater, a staging that promises to provoke and move the spectators.

Tickets are available at Sympla, costing R$40 (full price) and R$20 (half price). More information via Instagram @ozinformais or via WhatsApp (82) 98816-7169.
