In just a few years, if the situation does not change, the chance to buy a ticket in the desired direction will be at the level of 30%, the company warns.
The current lack of tickets for UZ trains is caused by the lack of vehicles, which in 2028 may become critical. This was announced on Thursday, August 22, by the head of passenger communications of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, Alexander Shevchenko.
He noted that in the summer of 2024, Ukrzaliznytsia carries 100 thousand people a day and it has become difficult to buy train tickets.
“We provide tracking, vehicle pickup, transfers, hub connections, car rotation twice a day with maximum efficiency – but this does not eliminate the main problem The lack of cars,” wrote Shevchenko.
The head of passenger communication said that the carriages “disappeared” because of their logistics routes: they were carrying people for evacuation, the wounded, priority groups (children from the front-line zone) and other passengers.
“Conclusion: we are already experiencing a shortage of railways, and in 2028 – at the current rate of retirement/aging/deterioration – it risks becoming critical,” Shevchenko added.
It was previously reported that Ukrzaliznytsia continues the operation of high-speed Intercity+ trains to Odessa in test mode.
