Magistrates and prosecutors’ associations speak out in favor of Bill 2046/2024 during a seminar at the National Congress
The bill, authored by federal deputy Daiana Santos (RS), establishes measures to guarantee the rights of the LGBTQIAPN+ population (lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transsexuals, queers, intersex, asexuals, pansexuals, non-binary people and more). One of the main points of the proposal is to ensure equal access to the job market, prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity, both in public and private services.
The relevance of the project is highlighted by research that shows that, of the 15.5 million queer Brazilians, only 4.5% hold formal jobs. The situation is even more serious for transsexuals and transvestites, who represent only 0.38% of this total in 2024.
The bill awaits the appointment of a rapporteur in the Commission on Social Security, Assistance, Childhood, Adolescence and Family (CPASF) and represents a significant step in the fight for equality and inclusion in the job market for the LGBT+ population.
