The war forced the Ukrainian fencer and his girlfriend to live together, but it added some stress to their relationship.
Ukrainian fencer Olga Kharlan spoke about how the war changed her relationship with her Italian lover Luigi Samele.
The couple has been together since 2018, but before the start of the whole invasion they lived separately: Olga in Ukraine, Luigi in Italy. The war forced the athlete to move with his loved one, which had a positive effect on their relationship.
“I can say yes the fact that I came to Italy is very good, because we often meet, we live together interview with Marichka Padalko.
However, Harlan also admits that it was difficult because of the circumstances in which they started living together. The war caused him constant stress, which also affected Luigi. Even now, during the massive shelling of Ukraine, the athlete cannot stay away and continues to monitor the news.
“For these reasons, it was very difficult to be together. He saw my condition, and it affected him too. I moved away a little, because all this news… When something terrible happens, all this news, or Nikolaev is shelled , or Kyiv, or our other cities are being shelled, I’m just sitting on the phone, he respects everything that happens to me, but this also somehow affects our relationship,” the athlete shared.
In addition, additional stress arose due to the preparations for the Olympic Games, in which both participated. According to Harlan, this is a difficult test for their relationship, but he is confident that together they will overcome all difficulties.
It was previously reported that Olga Kharlan wanted to help Ukrainian soldiers who were injured in the war with the Russian invaders.
