Yevgeny Klopotenko caused controversy by proposing to replace the popular song Kiev miy with a modern Kyiv anthem.
Restaurateur and chef Yevgeny Klopotenko faced criticism on social networks after suggesting to create a “modern Kyiv song” instead of the popular song Kiev miy.
Returning to the capital after the trip, he admitted that he associated the song with the station’s Soviet past.
“An unexpected question about the song Kiev miy. It seems normal, everyone loves it, and all that. But when I came to the station and heard it, I saw myself as if I was in some Soviet movie. Like I have a new one. Does anyone have the same one?
The comments under the post do not support Klopotenko’s idea. The writer Irena Karpa and member of the NAZVA group Pavel Gots emphasized that this song is a classic and not connected with the Soviet era.
Earlier it was reported that Yevgeny Klopotenko was refused to open a Ukrainian restaurant in Japan.
