“Geni’s Son” is not afraid to poke at the wounds of hypocrisy that hides violence
From this point on, he finds himself forced to confront his traumatic past and delves into disturbing memories from his childhood and adolescence, realizing the extent of the abuse he suffered, perpetuated and learned to normalize.
The show, whose title refers to the song “Geni e o Zepelim”, by Chico Buarque, can be read as one of the multiple faces of social and economic inequality suffered by those who live on the margins of society, such as LGBTQIA+ people.
The production denounces sexual violence against boys and teenagers. The text is based on extensive research and interviews conducted with victims of child sexual abuse in Brazil and Europe over a period of approximately three years.
