Duet is part of the 10th anniversary edition of “In The Lonely Hour” with new recordings
Taking to social media, Sam Smith expressed excitement about partnering with Alicia Keys, describing her as an “incomparable” artist. They shared: “I am so honored to have such an incredible talent and beautiful soul join me on this track to celebrate a decade of ‘In The Lonely Hour.'”
In addition to the duet with Keys, the commemorative edition of the album includes new recordings of several original tracks. Notably, “Stay With Me,” the single that propelled Smith to stardom, has been re-recorded with updated lyrics to reflect his non-binary gender identity, which he publicly embraced in 2019.
The change in lyrics to “but I still need love, baby understand” was described by Smith as a way to align the song with his personal journey, emphasizing the importance of authenticity.
The 10th Anniversary Edition of “In The Lonely Hour” was released today, August 2nd, and is available on all streaming platforms, as well as physical CD and vinyl options for fans who prefer a more classic approach.
