Play directed by Moacyr Góes tells a story of love and intolerance among cowboys.
Set in the rural United States, the plot begins in the summer of 1963, when Jack and Ennis meet while tending sheep on Brokeback Mountain. In isolation, they develop a deep and transformative relationship, interrupted by their return to their routine lives. Despite time and circumstances, the love between them persists, drawing them back to the mountain over the years, even after they are married and have children.
Director Moacyr Góes highlights the importance of the show in addressing themes such as intolerance and the challenges of the queer community, as well as universal issues of love and freedom. According to him, the production is a reflection on diversity and LGBT+ acceptance, which is still evolving in society.
Brou, the project’s creator, shares his motivation after watching the adaptation in London and invites the audience to reflect on love in its various forms. The play promises to respect the original tale.
