When the Ukrainians first heard the song, they were shocked, while the Russians started throwing mud at it in hysterics.
Latvian singer Laima Vaikule explained why she decided to sing in Ukrainian for the first time in her life.
In an interview with the Dozhd TV channel, the artist admitted that he used to perform songs in different languages, except Ukrainian, but now he decided to update his repertoire, adding that he was afraid that he would not succeed.
“I’m very afraid to sing in Ukrainian, because it’s always scary. We sing in English, Latvian, Lithuanian, Russian and even French, but I don’t sing in Ukrainian. What is happiness? That we can be different and sing I’m very happy and so proud!” he says.
Laima Vaikule’s Ukrainian-language song was suggested by a composer whose name she did not disclose. The singer will perform the track not by himself, but in a duet with Nikolai Trubach. Vaikule is confident that the song will be a real hit.
“A very good song I will sing it with Nikolai Trubach whom I rehearsed in Lithuania brought!” added the artist.
It was previously reported that American actress Jamie Lee Curtis condemned the missile attack on Okhmatdyt.
