The show has eight nominations from the Rio de Janeiro Shell and Cesgranrio awards and fills eyes, hearts and thoughts
The (already extended) São Paulo season of “En Enquanto você voava, eu criava raiza” (While you were flying, I was creating roots), a work that celebrates 25 years of the Franco-Brazilian company Dos à Deux, will only run until July 28. The show has eight nominations for the Shell and Cesgranrio awards in Rio de Janeiro (among them best show, direction, music, lighting and scenery) and fills the eyes, hearts and minds.
The company’s founding duo, André Curti and Artur Luanda Ribeiro, are responsible for the creation, choreography, set design and interpretation of the production, which also features a beautiful, tear-jerking soundtrack by Federico Puppi. How can a cello be so powerful? How can music be such a catalyst for feelings?
The answers are in almost an hour of show, mixing dance, music, performance, projections – it is a space without limits, standards, overwhelming definitions. It is to celebrate post-pandemic freedom, the moment of gestation of “While you flew..”, while at the same time reflecting on encounter, separation, reunion.

André and Artur don’t say a single word during the show and show that not everything needs to be said, just feel. The duo launches into a dance that reflects on surrender, complementarity, support, fitting in, letting go or taking root.
All this without many set elements, with great beauty in the play of light and impact in the projections of the artists’ images – looking at themselves, reading themselves, confronting themselves. It makes you fly with emotion and want to put down roots on the stage.
