The UN High Commissioner noted that with such visits he aims to show donors what is really happening in Ukraine so that they continue to allocate funds to help Ukrainians.
President Volodymyr Zelensky met with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, who arrived in Ukraine, having already visited the children’s hospital damaged by the Russian attack on July 8 Ohmatdet. The Office of the President reported this on Tuesday, July 16.
Grandi recalled that this was his fifth visit to Ukraine since the start of the full Russian invasion.
The UN High Commissioner mentioned that during such visits he aims to show donors what is really happening in Ukraine so that they continue to allocate funds to help Ukrainians. He said he had already visited several areas in Kyiv that were bombed last week and a children’s hospital Ohmatdet.
I’m in #Ukraine in solidarity with the people whose lives are destroyed daily by Russian attacks. It has been difficult lately. I started my visit with #Okhmatdyt children’s hospital No place should be more protected than a hospital for children.
However, it was hit by a missile

The head of state thanked the High Commissioner for his support for Ukraine.
He also emphasized that our country needs additional support to restore damaged housing and repair shelters in schools and hospitals so that Ukrainians can return home.
Please note that the children’s hospital Ohmatdet in Kyiv work was partially resumed after the Russian missile attack on July 8.
We remind you that on July 8, the Russians launched a massive missile attack on Ukraine. One of the targets was a hospital Ohmatdet in Kyiv. During the strike, there were 627 children in the establishment, eight of whom were injured, and two adults were killed. 94 patients were taken to other hospitals. Another boy later died of his injuries.
The SBU established that the Russians had attacked Okhmatdyt cruise missile X-101.
