Ukrainian singer, leader of the Okean Elzy group Svyatoslav Vakarchuk spoke with the commander of the Azov regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Denis Prokopenko, on the occasion of his birthday. The musician recorded a video message on Instagram.
On March 19, the defender received the title of Hero of Ukraine – for defending Mariupol from the invasion of the Russian occupiers. After that, Prokopenko, along with his brothers, were taken prisoner.
Vakarchuk expressed admiration for the military and his heroism.
“Today is the birthday of Denis Prokopenko, the legendary commander of the legendary Azov Regiment who defended Mariupol. We have not met yet, but in the months of talking on the phone, I felt him as a person. And I can say that I admire him as a warrior and I am proud as a patriot ” – said the musician.
He stressed that the fighter, his brothers and all our defenders are the true pride of Ukraine.
“On Denis’ birthday, I would like to ask him, his family, as well as the families of all his siblings, that the men who are now in very difficult conditions and undergoing difficult trials come back to their home, their relatives, their native. Ukrainian land soon, ”Vakarchuk added.
