Telemilênio is a production company known for its short films that portray stories of LGBTQIAPN+ daily life.
The LGBTQIAPN+ movement has been one of the main ingredients in the so-called “culture war”. With technological advances and easy access to audiovisual equipment, such as smartphones, YouTube has emerged as a powerful platform, offering new ways to consume content. Specific channels have proliferated, enhancing diversity and representation, something that has only recently become a concern for Brazilian TV.
In this context, Telemilênio stands out, a production company notable for its short films that portray stories of LGBTQIAPN+ daily life. Actor Abiud José, for example, plays a homosexual man over 50 years old, usually invisible to the media, in the short film “Terra de Amor”, where he stars alongside Treison Lohan.
Telemilênio’s productions avoid erotic themes, focusing on sensuality and engaging stories. Lohan, one of the production company’s rising talents, recently starred in “A Toda Prova”, playing an adult content producer who exploits a mailman’s neediness.
Another highlight is “The Untold Story”, where Abiud José plays a family man attracted to a young air conditioning technician, played by André do Vale, who, in the end, turns out to be his daughter’s boyfriend. Short films like this could easily have sequels, given the depth of the stories.
“Crossroads” also draws attention, with Arthur Gregory playing a nerd attracted to a young man with a standard body, played by Juan Carlos. He resists temptation out of respect for his best friend.
Some Telemilênio shorts have been viewed over 1 million times. “Carnival Passion”, produced by Kinobox and directed by Viktor José, is also a success. The short tells the story of Jonas (Estevão Bonotto) and Max (Kleiton Ramos), who meet through a dating app. Fans are eagerly awaiting the sequel “Carnival Passion 2”.
