Marco Pigossi celebrates new role and collaborates with husband on “High Tide”

Actor, known for his work on Globo and Netflix, stars in a film directed by Marco Calvani, his husband, addressing the life of a gay immigrant

Marco Pigossi’s fear of admitting his sexual orientation to his fans is truly in the past. The actor, who was successful in Globo soap operas and Netflix productions, now stars in the film “High Tide”, directed by her husband, Marco Calvani. This is the first time the couple has worked together since they tied the knot in a private ceremony in December 2023.

In the role of Lourenço, Pigossi plays an undocumented gay Brazilian immigrant living in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Working as a cleaner and facing the difficulties of building a new life, Lourenço discovers a completely new world. A twist occurs when he falls in love with Maurice, played by James Bland, leading him to reflect on the complexities of human relationships.

“High Tide” had a special screening in Provincetown, where it was written and filmed, and will be screened at the 48th San Francisco International LGBTQ+ Film Festival on the 28th of this month. So far, there is no information about the film’s release in commercial cinemas in Brazil.

In addition to Pigossi and Bland, the main cast of “High Tide” includes Marisa Tomei (My Cousin Vinny), Bill Irwin (The Grinch) and Bryan Batt (Mad Men). The collaboration between Pigossi and Calvani marks a new chapter in the actor’s career, who now combines his talent with his life partner’s direction, bringing a powerful and emotional story to the screen.
